Description

The purpose of this qualification is to enhance readiness into the areas of system development at NQF Level 5. It prepares learners into the workplace or as undergraduate study in the System Development areas covered, providing them with necessary knowledge needed for further study in the field of Information Technology and Computer Science at higher education levels. This qualification provides the learner with the flexibility to articulate in the IT environment with a

wide variety of specialization options and articulation with telecommunications, Information Technology and Electronic Industries and other industries where IT is a key component like the financial Services Industry.

Workplace Learning

Learners will be formatively and summative assessed in theoretical studies on the basis of assignments, as individuals and group projects and as well as short tests. Assignments, case studies, problem-solving techniques will assist with formative assessments. Learners will also be formatively assessed in real work environment on the basis of observation in a natural setting

Entry Requirement

Learners who want to do this course must have completed the National Senior Certificate or Senior Certificate or any other qualification of that equivalence. Foreign learners are required to submit their higher qualification to SAQA to determine their level of entry.

Assessments

Examinations will be written during the first semester (June) and the second semester (December) of every year during the course period. It is required that learners submit one assignment per module and a POE before final assessments.

Certification

A National Certificate in Legal Secretary N4 will be issued on successful passing of all required N4 modules. This certificate is issued by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) as the assessment body in coordination with the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) as the quality assurance body.

Accreditation and Duration

3 Years (Divided into 2 components)


    18 Months (6 Trimester) of the theoretical component (N1 - N6)

    18 Months of practical in-service training
