Learners who complete this qualification will have competences and be capable of performing the roles of health promoter, assistant or health provider and assist the health networker within a community development context.

Workplace Learning

Learners are attached but not limited to the following organizations Clinics, Rehabilitation centres, Testing and Counseling centres, cancer foundation, Hospices, Mental health centres, Old age homes, Local municipalities, Health research centres, Primary and Secondary schools, NGOs etc.

Entry Requirement

  • National Senior Certificate with a pass in English
  • A senior certificate or its equivalency
  • Applicant Certified ID / Passport copies
  • Parent / guardian / next of keen ID copies
  • 2 ID sized passport photographs
  • Proof of address
  • Certified metric or high school certificates

Admission requirements

Learners who want to register for this qualification must have the following;

  • Grade 10, 11 or 12
  • Communication Level 3
  • Any qualification equivalent to the above

Assessments

Learners will be formatively and summative assessed in theoretical studies on the basis of assignments, as individuals and group projects and as well as short tests. Assignments, case studies, problem-solving techniques will assist with formative assessments. Learners will also be formatively assessed in real work environment on the basis of observation in natural setting.

A statement of results is issued by the Department of Higher Education and Training confirming the learner’s performance in the concluded assessments. A national N Certificate will follow only if the learner successfully passes all the 4 (four) subjects of a particular level. A learner can only continue to the next level if he/she passes at least 3 subjects. At a particular level.

Certification

A National Certificate in Legal Secretary N4 will be issued on successful passing of all required N4 modules. This certificate is issued by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) as the assessment body in coordination with the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) as the quality assurance body.

Degree in Health Promotion

Degree / diploma in Nursing

Accreditation and Duration

6 Months.
