Description
The purpose of this qualification is to prepare a learner to operate as an Occupational Health and
Safety Practitioner. An Occupational Health and Safety Practitioner serves as a facilitator and advisor
to employees and management regarding safety and health aspects in the workplace, including the
monitoring and inspecting of the workplace and the recording and investigation of incidents and
accidents.
Admission requirements
Learners who want to register for this qualification must have the following;
• Ancillary Health Care NQF Level 1 or
• ABET Level 4 with FLC or
• 12 (No specific subjects are required)
Assessment and Examination
On completion of all the required modules Knowledge, Practical and
workplace and the related components, the learner will be issued
with a statement of results which will automatically qualify the
learner for the External Integrated Summative Assessment (EISA)
which is monitored by the QCTO together with the HWSETA. Only
learners who pass this exam will qualify for the certificate. This
certificate will be issued by the Quality Council for Trades and
Occupations (QCTO), those who fail, will be granted 1 more
opportunity for reassessment
Assessment of your competency is based on the evidence you submit in
conducted Portfolio of Evidence (PoE) and your written examination.
Each PoE will include theoretical tasks and evidence of practical and
workplace tasks done at any registered social service provision centre
and the EISA (EXTERNAL INTEGRATED SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT) exam written in
November and March as will be guided by the college
On the other hand, the certification for the Level 4 qualification entirely
depends on the learner POE. (Portfolio of Evidence)
Certification
Learners who have passed the External Integrated Summative
Assessment (EISA) will be issued with an occupational certificate.
This certificate will be issued by the Quality Council for Trades and
Occupations (QCTO), those who fail, will be granted 1 more
opportunity for reassessment
Learners who have passed the External Integrated Summative Assessment (EISA) will be awarded
Occupational Certificate: Occupational Health and Safety Practitioner by Quality Council for Trades & Occupations

This qualification accreditation is provided by The Quality Council for Trades and Occupations
(QCTO) and the following is our QCTO ACCREDITATION:
Duration
This course has a maximum duration of 18 Months with a minimum of 12
Months for both the Theory, Practical and Work Place Training components.

Learning Material
Students will access engaging interactive lessons and self-directed learning
activities, an interactive study guide and an online library on the Online Study Portal. Textbooks are for the student account and will be provided at the college.
At the end of the training, the student will be assessed externally with the
External Integrated Summative Assessment (EISA). The Quality Council for Trades
and Occupations (QCTO) will conduct this assessment and successful students will
receive their certificates from this quality assurance body.
