Description

This qualification will equip the learner with tools and techniques to understand the concept of Tactical Road Traffic Operations within the context of the road traffic safety management environment. It will assist learners to implement performance improvements at a team, project or small organization level. It will also enable learners to understand how different functional perspectives work together to approach the real and complex problems of Tactical Road Traffic Operations and will give learners an opportunity to apply a range of management concepts to resolve management problems in their own organization.

Workplace Learning

This qualification requires a learner to be physically fit and competent in the use of firearms. For this reason, all learners are required to undergo an external practical training session for experimental learning. This includes the physical training component and the firearm training component. This training is done at a cost of R2500.00 and a statement from the training will be issued for confirmation of level 5 competence

Admission requirements

Learners who want this qualification must have completed matric or any NQF L4 equivalent qualification.

Assessments

Examinations will be written during the first semester (June) and the second semester (December) of every year during the course period. It is required that learners submit one assignment per module before final assessments.

Certification

The certificate for this qualification is issued by the Safety and Security Sector Education and Training on successful completion of all relevant modules and assessments.

Accreditation

This course is accredited by the Safety and Security Sector Education and Training Authority (SASSETA) with a duration of 12 Months.

Duration

This course / program is provided on 2 different levels (Level 4 and Level 5) each of these levels has a duration of 1 Year (12 Months)

Each level has got its allocated number of notion hours which are used in defining the provision scheme and overall duration.

Articulation Options

This Qualification lends itself to both vertical and horizontal articulation possibilities.


Horizontal articulation is possible with the following qualifications:

National Certificate: Generic Management Level 5

National Policing Level 5

National Certificate: Incident Management Level 5


Vertical articulation is possible with the following qualifications:

Bachelor of Administration Level 7

Diploma: Public Administration L6

Learning Process

Learners will be formatively and summative assessed in theoretical studies on the basis of assignments, as individuals and group projects and as well as short tests. Assignments, case studies, problem-solving techniques will assist with formative assessments. Learners will also be formatively assessed in real work environment on the basis of observation in natural setting of social service provision for a period of 6 months.
